A MESSAGE FROM SCOTT
Cary is home. It’s where my wife, Hannah, and I are building our life together, and where we’re surrounded by people and places we love. My affection for this community runs deep, but so does my sense of responsibility to it. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to leadership and public service. Whether through my career, elected office, or volunteering, I’ve found tremendous satisfaction in bringing people together, solving problems, and making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in local and state government, leading public schools, founding a non-profit, and starting a business. Those experiences have shaped my understanding of leadership. I believe in recognizing potential in people, empowering them to succeed, making difficult decisions, and accepting responsibility for the results. I also understand public budgets, the importance of meaningful oversight, and the need to challenge established practices when something isn’t working. Good leadership requires sound judgment, accountability, and a willingness to put the public interest first.
I believe Cary’s best days are still ahead of us, but experience has taught me that a bright future isn’t guaranteed. It requires responsible management of taxpayer dollars, strong public safety, dependable infrastructure, thoughtful planning for growth, and a commitment to protecting the quality of life that makes our community special. These are responsibilities that transcend political parties and serve us all. There’s nothing Republican or Democratic about collecting the trash, treating our drinking water, paving our streets, or keeping our neighborhoods safe. Local government works best when practical solutions and the needs of residents come before partisan politics. Cary doesn’t need to be reinvented. It needs to be governed well.
I’m running for mayor because I believe my experience, abilities, and commitment to our community can make a meaningful positive contribution. I don’t want to stand on the sidelines when I believe there’s important work to be done right now. Another title isn’t what matters to me. What matters is restoring fiscal responsibility, rebuilding public trust in local government, and ensuring Cary remains a safe, financially sound, and well-managed community that future generations will be proud to call home.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and for participating in our democracy. I welcome your questions, ideas, and concerns, and I hope you’ll always feel comfortable reaching out to me directly.
When my time in public service is finished, I want to know that I did my part to leave Cary stronger than I found it. That’s the responsibility I feel, and why I’m asking for the privilege of serving as your mayor.
